Soaked in kitschy 80s nostalgia, Rock of Ages is a goofy movie-musical that’s hard to resist. Too long by at least 20 minutes, and silly on more occasions than one, Rock of Ages is far from perfect. But the actors appear to be having a good time, and the enthusiasm is infectious. For the music alone, this one’s worth a watch. Wanna bet you’ll come out humming the tunes?.....Read Full Review

Tom Cruise fans, your hero has perhaps never looked (and been) so eccentric, dirty, sweaty, and of course, wild. As for the storyline, don't go looking for a great plot and something you have never seen before.......Read Full Review

A typical feel-good musical revolving around the life of 20-somethings who come to LA, seeking fame and fortune just like their idol, Rock god of the 80's Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise). Rock of Ages is decently entertaining; especially if you are a fan of 80's rock n roll. If not, the song and dance routine gets to you after a while but it is Tom Cruise who truly manages to rock the film. His metamorphosis is stunning. Watch the film for Tom Cruise. The 49-year-old still has it in him to seduce the ladies!.......Read Full Review

What’s Good?: The music that will take rock fans to the rock age; Tom Cruise’s look & performance; the rest of the cast’s infectious enjoyment.
What’s Bad?: The story can be found in between the collage of music videos; nothing new to offer in terms of story; it’s too long… it overstays its welcome.
Verdict: The fans of rock or those who have grown listening to Def Leppard, Journey, Guns N’ Roses etc. will find it a delightful journey into the past. But for the rest it’s just a musical that rarely has any story and overstays its welcome....Read Full Review

“Rock of Ages,” a jukebox musical turned junky big-screen attraction about making it in the music biz back when it still existed, is just entertaining enough to keep you from dark thoughts about the state of Hollywood......Read Full Review

Most of the numbers in Rock of Ages are flatly shot and choreographed, and they look as if they'd been edited together with a meat cleaver. With rare exceptions, they don't channel the excitement of the music - they stultify it......Read Full Review

“Rock of Ages,” the big-screen version of the jukebox musical set to ’80s “hair metal” anthems and ballads, never does. The all-star cast is game, but the filmmakers can’t stop winking and mocking the mockable music. It’s enough to make you “stop believin.".......Read Full Review
