OMG: Oh My God Movie Review
OMG Review Komal Omar
Ojha's Opinion: OMG sets out to be low profile movie this weekend for you guys but, its one of the recommended ones. Especially if you missed Paresh Rawal..long time eh? He owns OMG & also delivers a conceptual film rather than mindless comedy or Madhur's Heroine kind of movies.
Star Cast: Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Govind Namdeo, Mahesh Manjrekar, Om Puri

Despite its unusual, catchy premise, Oh My God! never exploits its full potential. But there's something to enjoy too, Paresh Rawal’s robust performance as the stubborn non-believer on a determined mission. In a sea of dumb Bollywood comedies (many starring Akshay Kumar himself), this one at least starts off a debate. For that alone, it’s not entirely a write-off. Carry cotton for your ears to drown out all the shouting!......Read Full Review

Oh My God! has novelty value and offers reasonably good entertainment. The producers have made a handsome profit by selling the all-India distribution and satellite rights at very fancy prices. The all-India distributors have paid big prices for the distribution rights, and while some would make profits, others will have to remain content with average business because the start has not been great.......Read Full Review

OH MY GOD! is a thought-provoking adaptation of a massively successful play. A movie tackling a sensitive and an untouched subject matter, it will find its share of advocates and adversaries, but the social message the movie conveys comes across loud and clear and that's one of the prime reasons why OMG - OH MY GOD! becomes a deserving watch.......Read Full Review

OMG has got some point. It riases a religious issue, & compelles you to think. OMG is relevent and everyone will be easily able to relate it. Paresh Rawal is fantastic & Akki is perfect as God. Hats off to Akki for lending his name to this one. Coming out of hall, you'll definitely say "OMG.. It was an amazing movie".....watch video reviwe

Straight on, OMG is Paresh Rawal's movie - and one of his best. Akki plays a small and sacred role. OMG's production values are not high-gloss and it sags and looks stagey at times. OMG conveys a serious message this festive season - God is to be found in human beings. And, rather like Hindi films of an earlier age, it does so in a light and unusual way......Read Full Review

OMG Oh My God has an unusual, engaging subject. Paresh is wonderful as the stubborn, smart and eccentric Kanji. He gets a few fiery scenes in court but the film sags because the other characters are so flimsy. Eventually Oh My God dissipates into a lecture. The intentions are good but the preaching is boring......Read Full Review

'OMG — Oh My God!' is a well-intentioned film but the execution could have been better. Shukla very competently succeeds in conveying the message that God has been reduced to mere symbolism in the modern world. Umesh Shukla should be applauded for making a film that is noble at heart and makes quite a few valid points that are sure to resonate with not only the youth but a lot of us who blindly follow religious practices without logic......Read Full Review

OMG-Oh My God creates a hard-hitting premise where its lead protagonist decides to dispute this rigid system by dragging God and the business of religion to court. Oh My God is a brave and absorbing blend of satire, fable and fantasy that brings our attention to the misuse and commercialisation of religion. Unlike most movies adapted from stage, Oh My God doesn't wear an overtly indoors-y look and is more small-screen in its aesthetics. But production design isn't the reason to watch this film. Paresh Rawal is.......Read Full Review

OMG Oh My God!, for all its flaws, has the services of the redoubtable Paresh Rawal to fall back on. The thespian pulls off a rescue act that borders on the miraculous. The film’s premise is courageous no doubt, but its heart and sinews are rather weak. It seems to chicken out a tad too easily in the end. OMG, even at its worst, does not ever deteriorate into WTF, thanks to the wondrous presence of Paresh Rawal. It's certainly not a waste of time......Read Full Review

What’s Good: The concept; the performances; the witty comebacks and dialogues.
What’s Bad: The movie seems to steer away from the main issue; the unsatisfactory explanations.

After a long time, one gets to witness meaningful cinema which takes a bold step towards questioning a trait personal to every individual — faith in the divine power. Adapted from a Gujarati play named Kanji Virrudh Kanji, Oh My God is for one a sardonic take on blind faith and people’s belief in God men. The direction is good and cinematography is perfect.......Read Full Review

‘OMG Oh My God!’ is a film that is undoubtedly one that rests solely on the shoulders of Paresh Rawal, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the man takes away the award for the ‘Best Male Debut’ this year. Akshay Kumar, as the 21st-century Krishna, offers a much-welcome break to his audience. The ‘Divine Comedy’ doesn’t bore. Watch the film for a lot of things – Paresh Rawal being the top of the list......Read Full Review

The film takes two steps forward; and three steps backward. Paresh Rawal, an acting god among Guajarati audiences himself, plays an atheist. He doesn’t believe in God. The film is based on a popular play, Kishan Vs Kanhaiya, written by Bhaesh Mandaliya, we should then be glad that the play got turned into a movie – even if badly shot with callous close-ups, in second-rate studio sets, and with hammy performances.......Read Full Review

In a country plagued by religious beliefs, OH MY GOD! comes as a bold move. Kudos to director Umesh Shukla and his entire cast and crew and those behind the scenes for illustrating the pointlessness of all religious beliefs and driving the message straight to the heart. Jesus had the same problem with religious fanatics......Read Full Review
