Pixar's latest film Brave can be safely described as a children’s movie. After all, the animation is gorgeous but the humor is mostly slapstick, and the message is hammered into our heads repeatedly. Plus, the film’s premise – of a feisty princess who must undo a witch’s dastardly spell in the face of danger – feels old-fashioned and familiar. Neither layered, nor blazingly original like many of Pixar’s previous films, Brave offers relentless action and silly laughs instead…which isn’t exactly a terrible recipe for a children’s film.......Read Full Review

Brave isn't a Pixar classic.  The first half hour seems a little too pat but then the film moves into unexpected territory.  Brave gets the mother-bond exactly right - they love each other but also drive each other crazy. Brave is lovely film that mothers and daughters should see, preferably together.......Read Full Review

It is nothing more than the visuals: just another cartoon, something that could have come from Dreamworks or Fox. Brave is not the annual Pixar event that enthralls us, and as an adult who takes great joy in being predictably overwhelmed by the tablelamp-hopping wizards each summer, it's a crushing disappointment. Take the kids if you like, sure, but I do recommend renting Mulan instead.......Read Full Review

'Brave' is one such story of a feisty princess Merida (voice Kelly Macdonald) who cherishes her freedom. Brave is every girl's story. The mother-daughter relationship shown is extremely genuine. The film however drags in the first half and gets a tad too childish at times, making the intent of the film lose its significance. Brave is heart-warming, liberating!......Read Full Review

Brave is a spell-bindingly pretty, moderately-entertaining but not extremely profound Pixar offering. As beautiful as animated films come, this is one film the genre’s buffs wouldn’t want to miss out on. They must, however, be ready to forgive the relative conventionalism......Read Full Review

The problem with Pixar is that one expects every film of theirs to be groundbreaking, and while their latest Brave fails to be one, it’s still a charming and entertaining little story. Brave is a cute little film that stands apart from the slam-bang pop culture laced humour that epitomises the current crop of animated movies.......Read Full Review

It may not live up to the lofty standards of the Pixar brand, but Brave offers young audiences and fairy tale fans a rousing, funny fantasy adventure with a distaff twist -- and surprising depth.

The good news is that the kids will probably love it, and the bad news is that parents will be disappointed if they're hoping for another Pixar groundbreaker. "Brave" has an uplifting message about improving communication between mothers and daughters......Read Full Reveiw

Pixar movie, “Brave,” is a marvel of computer imagineering. While the mother-daughter clashes may make the story "relatable," they drain it of its mythopoetic potential, turning what could have been a cool postmodern fairy tale into another family melodrama.....Read Full Review

Pixar's Brave is a rousing, gorgeously animated good time. When a witch turns Merida's loving mom (Emma Thompson) into a sometime grizzly bear, Brave takes dark, dazzling turns. The beasts of the Scottish wild are no match for Merida's girl power......Read Full Review

The most important lesson for the audience is to be clear about what you expect. This is less a film in the lustrous Pixar tradition than a Disney fairy tale told with Pixar's virtuosity. As such, it's enjoyable, consistently beautiful, fairly conventional, occasionally surprising and ultimately disappointing.....Read Full Review

A film that starts off big and promising but diminishes into a rather wee thing as it chugs along, with climactic drama that is both too conveniently wrapped up and hinges on magical elements that are somewhat confusing to boot......Read Full Review

Turns out to be much less about the qualities that mark a heroine built to interest a 21st-century audience of girls, boys, and accompanying adults, and much more about the complexities of mother-daughter relations.....Read Full Review

The colors are stunning, the animation lush, photo-realistic and wet. Since its inception, no animation house has been as good at telling an adult story for children, as adept at tugging the heartstrings as Pixar, and "Brave" continues that tradition......Read Full Review

I saw the movie BRAVE in X3D. It was brilliant! I'm a grown adult who saw it with her adult daughter & her boyfriend. They both loved it. The adults in the audience loved it judging by the multiple laughs throughout the entire movie. Kids loved it, both boys and girls. I know when it comes out on DVD my MaggieMoose will love it. No dogs(or rather moose) were allowed in the theater so, MaggieMoose had to stay home. She'll love the Irish Wolfhounds in it.... Critics can say what they want. Judging from my experience of a full theater with real people watching BRAVE-they loved it. :) woof woof
