Gangs of Wasseypur: Part 2 Movie Review

Kashyap, its only him & the cast that made Gangs of Wasseypur(1 & 2) eligible to be added as one of legends of Bollywood. Part 2 is even better with a quick paced & no boring intros. Plot all set & young gang is ready to set it on fire. GOW 2 is not to be missed. Reviews doesn't matter when films like this gets a release, just go for it.

Gangs of Wasseypur II transports us back to that whimsically violent world that Anurag Kashyap first introduced us to roughly seven weeks ago. It’s hard to deny that Wasseypur II is lacking. If Wasseypur II has one fatal flaw, it’s the indulgence of its director, so in love with his baby that he doesn’t stop introducing pointless subplots and characters until the very end. Gangs of Wasseypur 2 begins where the first one ended – Sardar Khan, the ruthless family head is dead.  His sons take over his illegal empire.  The only rule here is kill or be killed. Anurag Kashyap, who also co-wrote the story, makes you care for the Khan family. Because his characters are well etched and the performances are first rate.......via The Front Row

Backstories and complicated genealogies are frankly rather extraneous in this bloody, bullet-riddled Anurag Kashyap world. Gangs Of Wasseypur II is a damned sight better than the first part. Gangs Of Wasseypur II provides enough cinematic memorabilia to single-handedly last us the summer. Wild, wild Wasseypur is buzzing once again with the swish of daggers, the din of gunshots and the curved conversations of violent men perpetually on the edge of sanity. The revenge, filmed with an operatic slo-mo rhythm, is bloodier than anything you would have seen before. Gangs of Wasseypur II jumps the gun without much ado, taking off from where part I left. Some of the best-shot (and stretched) chases take up a lot of Wasseypur II’s time. Trust Anurag Kashyap to believe that dialogue from the core of his heart. The man doesn’t make films, he makes vendetta come alive on screen. Gangs of Wasseypur: Part 1 wasted a lot of time in flagging historical landmarks, in introducing characters and was much scattered. But GOW 2  has characters ready to dive into action with a quick backgrounder for new additions, leaving much time to weave a tighter and telling story.........Read Full Review

Anurag Kashyap and his team deserve full marks. But the execution does not match that of Part I. Kashyap relies on humour to push the plot when it gets stuck with too much of cartridges being expelled from a gun. It takes the sting off to an extent but then he goes back into the 'thick' of things. In short, Part II 'Definitely' does not have a 'Perpendicular' rise. It is off 'Tangent'!.....Read Full Review

The reason you prefer the second part of this film over the first is because this is where the beginning ties up with the end. You get a sense of the sheer scale of this film’s ambition.
