Makkhi Movie Review

Ojha's Opinion: Okay..! By the title it may seem to be an ordinary childish animated movie not of any concern for us. But wait a second..its S S Rajamouli & its the dubbed version of Eega... A super hit down South. Watched it & guess what? It was just a "Makkhi" that took over the film buzzing into the hearts (not ears thi time :p). A light hearted Makkhi deserves a watch over other releases this week

In Makkhi, the Hindi dubbed version of the blockbuster Telugu film Eega, a man is reborn as a housefly so he can avenge his own death. Makkhi has a superhero, comic book quality; you watch half-incredulously, half-amused as this persistent fly drives Sudeep insane. The fly becomes a character you root for, and incredibly, you can see characteristics of Jaani the human in the tiny bug. The animation in Makkhi is unfussy, but this is a great example of how the idea is truly the star. Makkhi's concept is original & refreshing. None of the scenes are out of place. Film is interesting as well as intelligent. Whole credit goes to S S Rajamouli for a complete fabulous product. This Makkhi will surely entertain you, I bet. Don't miss it...!!......Watch Video Review

Though the plot is for the most-part predictable, Makkhi still offers situations that are truly gleeful to the young and the old alike. Ironical it is, that the animated makkhi is so full of life, that he doesn't ever make you miss the presence of a beefy Khan, Kapoor or Kumar. Makkhi is the most outlandish film I've seen in years. It's also the most fun I've had in a theatre recently. By the end, I was clapping and rooting for the fly. When we heard the core concept of the film, the story gave us uncontrollable giggles and made us wonder if it’s going to be worth the watch. But honestly, films like these are meant to be seen and enjoyed rather than relying on half-cooked narrations. Director SS Rajamouli sprinkles the right amount of Southern spices on to some interesting animation and brilliant visual effects. What’s Good: Imagination, inventiveness , inspite of its absurdities at times, Director Rajamouli is able to carve a hilarious tale out of a make believe world where logic is intertwined with fantasy, some great computer graphics and visualisation.

What’s Bad: The name itself maybe, the climax seems a bit extended.

Makkhi entertains in a way only South Indian films do – through heavy doses of maar-dhaad, filmi dialogues and comic relief. SS Rajamouli’s hugely successful ‘Eega’ is served in a dubbed version as ‘Makkhi’. While the title may make your squirm in disgust (I mean, why would you want to watch a film about a house fly) you are in for a surprise when you start watching the film. A little fly taking on a mighty villain is of course the kind leap of faith that’s thoroughly entertaining to start with. You root for this champion makkhi, who builds his body doing weights on ear-buds, wears cool goggles, and no repellents can destroy him. The idea is instantly warm and funny.
