Alas, Cocktail, directed by Homi Adajania, is no saucy menage a trois, although it does involve three friends living together in London, a little too close for comfort. No, Cocktail falls firmly in the rom-com space. With the right ingredients in the right proportions, this might have made for a smooth concoction. But Cocktail is a mostly flat romance; one that could’ve done with more heart.......Read Full Review

Cocktail is engaging and genuinely good fun. But you will need to have patience with that messy climactic melodrama. Its the best Bollywood romance I've seen since Band Baajaa Baraat.......Read Full Review

Its all about love & friendship with some heart-breaks. Saif and Deepika team up for the third time and the chemistry and comfort between the actors is unmistakably obvious. Diana, who makes her acting debut, gets to portray a rather difficult character for her debut film. COCKTAIL has a fascinating first half, charismatic performances, harmonious music and the trendy look and styling as its aces, but the second half is not as tempting or intoxicating as the first hour. The movie is primarily targeted to Gen-next.......Read Full Review

Cocktail is a slice-of-life film mounted beautifully and imaginatively on a large canvas with the vibrant colours of London, Cape Town and New Delhi. Cocktail deals with the fun moments and then the emotional turmoil faced by three Indian friend. Cocktail should be truly applauded for is its permissiveness. As a film it breaks shackles and ushers in a new free spirit that Gen-Now will relate to........Read Full Review

Verdict: Above Avg (2.5/5)
The story keeps moving ahead without expending too much time on the obvious and inescapable elements of a love story. The pacing drops in the second half, and one gets more impatient with predictability seeping into the plot. Pritam's music is peppy and some new voices add freshness to the soundtrack. This one is old Cocktail in new bottle!......Read Full Review

Cocktail a hollow approach to relationships that leaves you with an empty feeling of nothingness. Mixed with laughs, dances, songs, tears, stunning beaches but the cumulative effect of this mix: permanent sobriety. None of the characters seem worthy of your attention and concern. Director Homi Adajania’s vision of a modern love story seems warped........Read Full Review

Homi Adajania's brightly glossy Cocktail seems unburdened by any grandiose cinematic ambition beyond looking very good -- an aim it meets with highly attractive leads and rather excellent art direction -- and that's cool. It's a pity, and not just because this could have been the great unconventional cinematic threesome we so desperately need. Cocktail has a handful of moments and a few genuine sparks, but finally crashes and burns so spectacularly that it's hard to focus on the positives........Read Full Review

‘Cocktail’ starts off headily enough, and bubbles along till half time; post that, the sips get diluted, and the swallows take much longer.to be any good, a rom com needs heart-ache and tears, but needs to be careful of sogginess.......Read Full Review

The first half of the film is reserved for lively sweet nothings and comedic moments while the second half gets down to unfolding the larger business of the heartbreaks, hard knocks and eventual emotional salvation that follows. Cocktail has just the right mix of fizz and flavour to allow the occasional and inevitable crinkles of triteness to flow well below the surface. It is definitely worth a visit to the multiplex......Read Full Review

Homi Adjania’s direction is impeccable. The first half of Cocktail establishes the premise; it’s a fun, happy life with song after song. You can’t hate a film like Cocktail nor can you love it in totality. If you’ve liked Ali’s storytelling before, there’s no harm in catching it at least once. Cheers!.......Read Full Review

The look and feel of the film is fresh and is shot at exotic locations. The fresh designs, bright colours and tribal prints of the wardrobe is very captivating. The plot seems good for the start. Deepika is a complete surprise while Diana is quite lovable. Saif is convincing..... Read Full Review

Its most of a Deepika starrer, but Diana Penty also impresses, Saif is as usual cool self. The first half, light and frothy for the most part, is fun, while the second half gets maudlin and laboured more than it needs to. As for the film – very niche, very easy on the eye and ear and a lot of the time, very fun.......Read Full Review

Cocktail is a cinematic cream cheese roll stuffed with a pinecone. It’s a predictable feel-good story, but maybe that’s a good thing - after all, no one wants to see a movie about bad relationships - people have plenty of those in their own lives........Read Full Review

Here’s the scenario then. He loves her. And she is already single. The third one in the triangle could take a hike for all we care. But you don’t care about any of the three. Or who ends up with whom. Neither do the filmmakers, given how flimsily these characters have been placed before us in the first place. Its all disappointing......Read Full Review
