BITTOO BOSS is a clear case of unfulfilled promises. One expects the story and the execution of the written material to leave an indelible impression, but director Supavitra Babul doesn't get it right. The first few scenes might give a Band Baajaa Baaraat kinda impression with the hero meeting the heroine (Amita Pathak) in a marriage setting and subsequently pursuing her endlessly. The first half sent me to sleep with the unpolished Bittoo chasing the richer, posher Mrinalini, with all those scooter rides, and ice cream-and-'gurdwara' dates. We really wish we had something substantial to write in the ‘3 ups’ section. Though, music is a respite. And we have a unique character named ‘Bicky’ which does crack some fresh jokes. Regarding ‘downs’, the movie is a big downer in itself. We do not recommend you watching it even if you’re having a bad day. In fact, especially, if you’re having a bad day. Pulkit Samrat’s acting skills are commendable. He convincingly plays the character of a rustic cameraman from a small town. Amita Pathak is a disappointment, with just a couple of expressions that she can showcase. The glitch is that the second half ofBittoo Boss comprises of many turns, all so clichéd that you start dreading them. BITTOO BOSS is interesting in the first few reels. The energy thrown in by debutant actor Pulkit Samrat, who plays the protagonist, is noteworthy. The film relies heavily on Pulkit, and even though the lad makes an honest attempt he is not able to pull off the film. So why should you watch Bittoo Boss? You can see it’s made with love. The intention is honest and debutant director Supavitra Babul’s vision of an entertainer (under parental guidance) comes through. Even though the film wanders, with the first and second half almost disconnected, it is an earnest attempt.
