On the whole, Paan Singh Tomar shatters the standard rules of this genre. Besides, the film makes you cognizant that serious cinema can be uniformly delightful, like any other enthralling entertainer. If this variety of cinema allures you then chances are that you will take pleasure in watching PST. Recommended!......Read Full Review

The tragedy of Paan Singh Tomar and Irrfan Khan's execution of the role are both compelling. Many of India's well-known athletes lived in abject poverty, forgotten by the nation, once their sports careers were over. PST reminds us never to forget that shame of India. …..Read Full Review

Both halves are elevated by Mr. Khan. Without romanticizing Paan Singh, he shows his basic honesty and gives him real depth. As an actor Mr. Khan rarely does the expected. You can’t take your eyes off him......Read Full Review

What’s Good: The first half; the performances.
What’s Bad: The second half which is a routine revenge drama; the difficulty which the lay viewer will face while trying to understand the Bundelkhandi dialect in which the dialogues are spoken.
Verdict: Paan Singh Tomar does not make too much of a mark, thanks to the dull second half..…..Read Full Review

A performance par excellence by Irrfan Khan, stupendous direction, impressive dialogues, and a powerful screenplay makes Paan Singh Tomar a flawless venture. Sluggish editing, however leaves the film slightly lengthy which though can easily be ignored.
On the whole, Paan Singh Tomar breaks rules and cries out loud that meaningful cinema can be equally entertaining like any rib-tickling masala film. Highly recommended!......Read Full Review

Needless to say, Irrfan Khan is one of the finest actors in contemporary cinema and he proves it beyond any doubt with his portrayal as the wronged innocent who takes up arms. Though Mahie Gill does not have much to do, she does hold her own quite effectively as Singh's dutiful wife. With Paan Singh Tomar, Irrfan Khan once again manages to add another feather to his already bedecked cap for sure…..Read Full Review

Paan Singh Tomar is an interesting one to put it mildly, and thankfully it fell into the deft hands of Tigmanshu Dhulia. Perhaps a tad longer and slower than it should ideally have been, but Paan Singh Tomar is unmissable. In this cricket-obsessed country, many talented men who excelled in other forms of sports have died lonely and penniless. This is Dhulia's perfect tribute to them and perhaps a wake-up call for all of us........Read Full Review

  1. Irrfan Khan is a terrific actor. There are a very few hindi films that have given him a role that match up with his potential. He is the Naseeruddin Shah of current generation.
