Rowdy Rathore is an old fashioned Good Versus Evil comedy-action-drama with paisa-vasool written in every frame. Prabhu Deva who earlier directed Salman Khan's cop-on-a-rampage saga Wanted puts Akshay on the same page. The thing about Rowdy Rathore is it never takes itself seriously. The action is not just heavy-duty and hardcore but at times head-banging also. Rowdy Rathore lives up to its name in creating too much noise for no reason. Here's yet another assembly-line actioner, and, for what it's worth, it's not as awful, really. Sure, nothing justifies a 139-minute length, but Akshay Kumar carries both moustache and cop uniform better than his peers -- yes, I include Salman Khan in that comparison, the one whose clothes refuse to stay on -- and while both Khan and Ajay Devgn can competently scowl. An air of unabashed, if generally harmless, imbecility pervades Rowdy Rathore. With very little substance to play around with, the film spreads itself dangerously thin. But even when it teeters on the brink of snapping point, it hurtles along like an armoured vehicle on four flat tyres. It makes much din but covers little ground.

Akshay plays a double role in the movie, that bestows him with abundant opportunity to flaunt each shade of his skill. Akki is in his best form, with his rowdy romance and comedy. Akshay promises raw action in the film and his one-liner ‘Don’t Angry Me’ is already on everyone’s lips. Sonakshi plays a lovable, charming, yet impish character very well. Especially, the desi girl image suits her impeccably. Overall, Rowdy Rathore has the potential to set the cash registers ringing, provided it delivers what it promised.
