While it offers an appropriately dark take on the fairy tale that inspired it, Snow White and the Huntsman is undone by uneven acting, problematic pacing, and a confused script.

"Snow White and the Huntsman" reinvents the legendary story in a film of astonishing beauty and imagination. It falters in its storytelling, because Snow White must be entirely good, the Queen must be entirely bad, and there's no room for nuance. The end is therefore predetermined. But, oh, what a ride. "Snow White and the Huntsman" is a considerable experience.......Read Full Review

Its classic fairytale of Snow White with a few insignificant twists. Rupert Sanders tries hard to give the fairytale a 'dark makeover' but doesn't quite achieve the desired result. There is no chemistry between the lead actors either! Hemsworth and Stewart look and act disinterested in each other. Charlize Theron is the only saving grace of the film. The film has been shot beautifully but only intensifies when Theron makes an appearance........Read Full Review

Its something new. Or maybe something old, even atavistic. Though it is an ambitious — at times mesmerizing — application of the latest cinematic technology, the movie tries to recapture some of the menace of the stories that used to be told to scare children rather than console them. There is something exciting about how seriously "Snow White and the Huntsman" takes its themes........Read Full Review

Snow White and the Huntsman has a darkness that seeps into the soul - but it's also definitely a missed opportunity. Director Rupert Sanders loses his nerve just when the story starts cooking......Read Fulll Review

It's less jokey than the recent Mirror Mirror, but this Twilightified fairytale has the same basic problem. Its is evidently far too babyish and needs to be sexed up, or rather teen-abstinenced up. The result is tangled and overblown.......Read Full Review

It turns into a clangy medieval epic, full of random woodland monsters and battles, and it begins to lose the pulse of its fairy-tale mystique. It's like watching Clash of the Titans IV: Revenge of the Blood Apple........Read Full Review

What’s Good: A visual treat; superb acting, especially Charlize Theron; the ambitious take on the good-old story. What’s Bad: The lack of the fairy tale elements due to the darkness of the script; Kristen Stewart still needs to get out of her Twilight zone; the slow pace of the film.
Verdict: Snow White And The Huntsman is nowhere close to being a fairy tale, but if you watch it without the fairy tale context to it, it is sufficiently dark and menacing..…..Read Full Review

It is Theron who really makes the film worth watching. She outshines everybody as the evil witch with a tormented past, and there are scenes where she can send a chill down your spine with just a plain old dangerous smile. If you plan to watch Snow White And The Huntsman, it should be for her. What Sanders tries to do with the children’s classic can be appreciated, the end result however, not so much.........Read Full Review
